Terrific Teens 25/07/09

Hobbies by Jun Yi

Definition:
An activity/interest pursued for pleasure/relaxation and not as a main occupation

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you. These are the ways of the world: wanting to please our sinful selves…
1 John 2:15-16 (NCV)

1. Will Jesus do the same thing?
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus…
Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

2. Will it be wise for me to do it?
Brothers and sisters, think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.
Philippians 4:8 (NCV)

3. Will it destroy my body?
You surely know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own. God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (CEV)

4. Will I be addicted to it?
Some of you say, "We can do anything we want to." But I tell you that not everything is good for us. So I refuse to let anything have power over me.
1 Corinthians 6:12 (CEV)

5. Will it bring me away from God?
Put everything to the test. Accept what is good and don't have anything to do with evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (CEV)

6. Will it stumble others?
But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble… So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed. And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ. So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.
1 Corinthians 8:9-13 (NLT)

Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.
Ecclesiastes 11:9 (NLT)
